International Students Raise Money for Charity
A group of Norwegian students who are studying at the college for the
current academic year ran a food stall recently at the Hammersmith
campus. This was a real success and the students proved themselves to be
an excellent sales team and raised a very impressive £108 for charity.
The two teams had been preparing for this event for a while, and were
responsible for the costings, marketing, organisation and baking. They
put into practice things leant from their ‘A’ level equivalent subjects,
ranging from maths to marketing. A big well done to them for all
their efforts.
Work Placement Team forge 5* links
Once again the International Work Placement team is at the forefront of the Employer Engagement activities. Five of our International students who joined the college in September 2010 have secured full time work placements at the newly opened W 5* boutique Hotel on Leicester Square. To date they are the only students the hotel has accepted onto their staff. Three Culinary Arts and two MBA students have started work in the Spice Market – the Hotel’s in house restaurant. Newly appointed Chef Julien said our students were recommended to him by colleagues of the Chef Academy. He was told to contact Anita Virik and the Work Placement team at EHWLC as the students there were uniquely prepared for what to expect in the work in the UK hospitality industry and that the team would support him with any work visa and qualification quesions. This brings the number of students placed into full time paid employed to 1754 over the last 4 years. A huge achievement at any time, not least during global recession.
New Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme
Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a full-time degree programme delivered by Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College and awarded by University of Wales through validation.

South Korean educational visit in April
The International Centre welcomed 20 Staff from the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education including teachers of Technology Schools and Colleges in Gwangju City in South Korea on the 28th April. The South Korean delegates visited the Hammersmith Campus in order to find out more about the courses the College is offering, the NVQ qualification system for 16 – 18 year olds and progression routes available for students at the College. During the visit, the delegates had a tour of the College where they visited Taste Restaurant, The Hair and Beauty Salon, The Learning Centre and the Canteen and they also had the chance to meet our current South Korean students.
The International Centre is working hard to develop relationships with South Korean partners and this was a good opportunity for delegates to learn about the strengths of the College and opportunities available for students studying with us. We hope to welcome South Korean students from Gwangju City in the future.
The International Students End Of The Year party
On Friday 10th December, The International Centre organised the end of year International Students Party. The event, held in the College Canteen was a great success with more than 80 guests, food and lots of dancing.
The food was provided by catering services from our College and by popular request, DJ ABS was in charge of playing some great tunes and also gave the students the opportunity to play their own music, which made the event even more relaxed and fun. We had two dance competitions with winners from Peru and India.
Staff took the opportunity to mingle with students, getting to know them a little bit better and listening to their opinion about the College and courses before going on our Christmas break. It was a great end of the year celebration for all.
USA Work & Training Opportunities for International Graduates
The International Centre and Darshire Ltd organised a career and visa immigration seminar recently for 60 Postgraduate Diploma graduates to learn more about work opportunities in the USA. There are currently many excellent openings for culinary internships at some of the America’s finest holiday resorts.
Darshire Ltd, one of our education representatives based in India and Ealing, will work alongside our students and guide them through the qualifying process for an opportunity to work and train with top Executive Chef Michael Swann from the USA. The various resorts seeking the skills of our students comprise 22 indoor restaurants from fine dining to modern bars. The company’s representatives felt confident that our graduates are equipped with the range of vocational, personal and employment skills necessary to be successful in securing these highly competitive internships.
Students have commented that they would love the chance to work in USA to experience another global work opportunity and to save money to return to us to enrol on the MBA programme.

Norwegian and Danish Students at our College
A new cohort of 30 students from the Stovner School in Oslo, who we have collaborated with for many years, are coming to Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College on the 14th September for an academic year. They will be studying a variety of subjects at ‘A’ level standard.
On the 21st of September The International Centre is welcoming Business students from the Kolding Business school in Denmark. This is also a long standing collaboration
