Hammersmith Facilities
As the largest of our College campuses, Hammersmith campus has even more excellent facilities to offer our students, for both academic and recreational purpose, than you would expect.
The Learning Centre
The learning centre is a large, open-plan area on each site providing an excellent range of learning materials and facilities to support students and staff in finding the resources and information needed for their courses. We aim to provide a service that fully supports students with their studies. We provide a variety of traditional library resources, including books, magazines, DVDs and newspapers, offer support in using the facilities and the College subscribes to a wide range of online resources which you can access via the Student Portal. We also offer inductions to the network and learning centre facilities and at times offer study skills and research sessions. All students who are enrolled at the College are entitled to use the learning centre.
IT Facilities
You will be able to use our top-of-the-range computers to aid you with your course and have access to a number of additional benefits including the Internet, your own College email account, CD-ROMS and the latest software packages. A full introduction to the computing facilities and the Student Portal will be given when you enrol. The Student Portal is an innovative system which provides you with all the latest bulletins that will affect your life at college, including College policies, timetable and attendance information, student services and benefits.
The International Centre
If you are from overseas, settling into student life in the UK can be a daunting and confusing experience. We give advice and provide support for all our full-time overseas fee-paying students. The Centre also has an induction programme specially designed to help international students adapt to life in the UK as smoothly as possible. From helping you understand fees to choosing further courses, we are here to assist you. We also provide letters needed for UK services, for example, opening bank accounts or registering with a GP.
Sports and Fitness
Use the broad range of equipment from weights and toning machines to cardio vascular apparatus in our specialist Sports and Fitness Centre to ensure that you get an overall workout. Our friendly staff are always available to make sure that you get all the advice and help you need to improve your fitness and exercise safely. Energize also run a variety of fitness classes such as Boxercise, Aerobics and Spinning. All students studying for six hours a week or more can use the facilities completely free of charge during term-time between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Outside of these hours, students can join at a reduced rate.
Student Common Room
When you are not in classes, you can relax with friends in the Common Room, equipped with snack machines, plasma screens, TV, pool tables and table football. Hammersmith TV also plays constantly in the Common Room, which is a non-audio communication tool that provides you with the latest College updates, as well as student work and trailers for the latest films.
Cafeteria
We have a large canteen available to all staff and students with a large selection of hot and cold foods as well as snacks and salads, the majority of which are homemade.
We aim to offer suitable choices for all cultures, as well as vegetarians and those with dietary and health needs. The cafeteria is open throughout the day and into the evening to suit all class times.
The Alan Green Nursery
Just because you are parent, it does not mean that you can't enrol on a course of study. We have an on-site, purpose-built nursery to provide a happy and secure environment for children to play and learn in. Places are available for children between two and five years old who have a parent at any one of our College sites. Places, however, are limited and subject to applicants meeting the entry criteria.
