Case Study
 |
Every year we employ around 10 apprentices to work at the College. They spend 12 months working with different departments to get a real
insight into the world of business and administration. The Apprentices are earning a real wage whilst learning the basics of
how an orangisation operates, including finance, administration and marketing.
Akim successfully completed his Appenticeship and went to study Business at University.

What is it like being an Apprentice?
It takes a lot of commitment and determination
to go to work and to college. I wasn’t sure how I
could manage both. But the system that they use
makes them both gel together nicely and there
isn’t much pressure on me.
What did you learn about?
Business Administration and we also had
on-the-job learning which went towards an NVQ.
How is it different to school or college?
You have more responsibility as an Apprentice.
You have to learn to balance your studies and
work which is something that school or college
can’t teach you.
Is there anything you have learnt that was
completely unexpected by you?
Teamwork, time management and using my
initiative are the key things I’ve learnt throughout
this placement.
Would you recommend the course to others?
Yes. If you want to learn, obtain qualifications,
get great work experience as well as good
references then an Apprenticeship
is definitely the way to go.
